It seems like big business likes to keep us in the dark about how much the products we buy are really worth.

Over the last few years, we’ve stumbled across a handful of Class Action Lawsuits that revolve around Price-Fixing. Price-Fixing is when the industry leaders in the same niche collude with one another to sell their products at similar prices to reduce competition and ensure that YOU are paying top dollar. Obviously, this isn’t ok.

That being said, there is another new Canadian Class-Action Lawsuit Settlement that may involve you! A number of class action lawsuits were started across Canada alleging that the defendants (Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Epson & more) conspired to fix prices in the market for LCD Panels and Products.

You can get money from the settlements if you bought any of the following products between January 1998 and December 2006:

  • an LCD panel (10” or larger measured diagonally)
  • a notebook computer
  • a flat-screen computer monitor
  • a flat-screen television containing an LCD panel. A flat-screen television might contain either an LCD panel or a plasma panel.

It does not matter what company manufactured the LCD panel, television, computer monitor or notebook computer that you bought. You can claim for any brand or model of LCD panel, television, computer monitor or notebook computer.

New Claimants with valid claims will receive a minimum payment of $20.

Recognizing that not everyone will have retained proof of purchase, you can file claims in respect of LCD Product and LCD Panel purchases that are not supported by documentary proof of purchase. You can claim up to two undocumented LCD Product or LCD Panel purchases. If you have retained proof of purchase, submit that with your claim and you may be entitled to more money!

If you file a claim using the Online Claim Portal and provide banking information, you will be paid by direct deposit. All other Settlement Class Members will be paid by cheque.

You have until January 19, 2018 to submit a claim

Payment typically occurs 6 to 12 months after the claims deadline.
