First off, Ryan and I want to extend a MASSIVE Thank You to our community. Not only for being here day in and day out and supporting our website, but also for your support of us – as people.

In case you didn’t know, SaveaLoonie.com is NOT run by a team of people or a company or corporation. It’s just me (Terra) and my husband, Ryan, doing it all! And it’s been that way since the start.

But running a site like SaveaLoonie, means we don’t get a lot of time to ourselves. That’s ok – we love what we do! But occasionally, it’s nice to get away. And with help from our community back in April, our wish came true!

You guys turned out in droves to vote and help us win a trip back to the resort in Jamaica where we had our honeymoon. It was truly amazing and we can’t thank you enough! I’m so happy to say, we just returned back from our vacation and it was just as incredible as we could have hoped for! I can’t wait to tell you all about it!

ABOUT THE RESORT

We journeyed to Sunset At The Palms Resort & Spa in Negril, Jamaica. As I said, this was our second stay here so we knew the paradise that awaited us.

Sunset At The Palms is an all-inclusive, adults-only boutique style resort where guests stay in elevated, tree-house style rooms. The rooms are beautifully furnished, have HUGE comfy beds, air conditioning and rustic accents. Each room also has it’s own private, covered balcony with sitting area to enjoy the outdoors, rain or shine.

Walking to our room at Sunset At The Palms

The grounds are immaculate. Walking through this resort is an experience in itself. Because the resort itself is not beachfront, it allows for the unspoiled beauty of Jamaica to shine through. You’ll find some of the most interesting flowers, towering bamboo, stunning palms and beautiful birds while just enjoying a quite moment or strolling around.

Sun, sand and glistening water

And the beach – OH! I can’t even begin to describe the beauty of the white sands and clear turquoise waters. SATP is lucky to have one of the largest private beaches on 7-Mile. You’ve always got room to swim, float and move your loungers around on this beach!

The Palm Grove Buffet restaurant area

The entire resort has an “open-air” concept meaning the lobby, dining areas, bars etc. have roofs but no walls. Every minute of every day, you feel immersed in nature.

The Staff at Sunset At The Palms is what really helps take this from just being a vacation spot, to being a “home away from home”. Many of the staff who were there in 2017, were still there this year and remembered us! That really makes you feel special. Every member of the team is pleasant, greets you with a smile and takes the time to ask if you’re enjoying your day and if there is anything they can do for you.

OUR VACATION

Ryan and I knew when we left for this vacation, that it was going to be all about the rest & relaxation! Our previous trip to Jamaica involved a lot of sight-seeing, excursions and picture-taking. This time around, we had planned to do a few things off-resort, but once we were there, we decided to just sit back and soak it all in!

Us enjoying some time under a beach Palopa

And that’s just what we did! We had naps, ate too much food, floated around in the Sea, lounged by the pool and soaked in the gorgeous sunsets.

Sunset on Bloody Bay Negril, Jamaica

We intended to continue to do daily posting on SaveaLoonie for you guys, but unfortunately the WIFI at the resort (free & included with your stay!) was experiencing some issues so needless to say, we took a few days off. Some of you probably noticed 😉 But that being said, it was nice to truly disconnect for a bit.

Working in paradise wasn’t always easy!

The one adventurous thing we did while in Jamaica was go Parasailing! Not something I EVER thought I would do; I’m terrified of heights. But Ryan REALLY wanted to do it, and we’re a team so I agreed. And let me tell you, it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life!

Up, Up and Away! Our first time Parasailing!

Being at such a small resort means you get to interact with a lot of the same guests over your stay. We met some incredible people from all over the world (USA, Germany, England, Ireland) that we became friends with. Hopefully one day, we can reconnect with them again!

Paradise awaits you at Sunset At The Palms

We have returned now (obviously!) and are feeling refreshed, recharged and ready to take on the next phase of our lives! Thank you to everyone who voted and helped send us on this amazing vacation. It’s something we will never forget.

And for anybody considering a trip to Jamaica, we HIGHLY RECOMMEND Sunset At The Palms in Negril. It is our perfect slice of paradise, and it could be yours too!
