It was a great day for shopping! Not only was the weather beautiful but the deals were spectacular! We had one of our best totals to date and got lots of great stuff. We went to 3 separate stores to snag all of our deals. We started at Walmart then Rexall and FreshCo.

Walmart was absolutely NUTS! This is Grand Opening week of our new Super Centre and it was packed. There were people everywhere but for the most part, we got in and out fairly quickly. I think check out took nearly as long as shopping. But then again, when I go into a store I know exactly what I want, where it is and my route of attack 😀 I prefer to stay away from express lines especially while couponing and today was no exception, besides I was way over the item limit. But an attendant ushered us down the express lanes as they were empty even though our cart obviously had more items. First mistake.

My cashier was super nice and chatty but unfortunately about half way through the transaction she got a little flustered and as a result things didn’t quite get processed the way they were suppose to. We wound up not being charged for 2 items and charged for an item we didn’t buy and having 2 coupons rung through twice! So I suppose in the grand scheme of things it did work out in the plus for me but I feel bad when that happens. The worst part was, it wasn’t just the cashier, there was a CSM right behind her and they both reviewed the receipt as the mistakes were happening. The first mistake happened with the Lysol. The coupon was $1.00 off WUB2 but even though I explained that, she rang it through as $1.00 off each. I honestly didn’t notice because I was turned to load more onto the tiny counter. The cashier struggled with the price match and BOGO coupon for Healthy Choice Steamers and couldn’t figure out how to charge me for 2 and ring the coupon through so the other 2 were free. Also, the Tums were marked on shelf as $3.97 and I was going to price match them down to $3.50. Then as she rang the first bottle through and did the price over ride, I noticed the bottles were on sale at Walmart for $2.97 so she actually price matched me up! So I stopped her and asked not to price match anymore LOL and she tried to void the purchase. Well the till kept saying “Item Not Sold”, even the CSM tried with the same results. She concluded that it had been voided and then proceeded with the bottles again

You can see, I was trying to figure out what happened when my numbers didn’t add up. So in the end, I wound up not paying for the 2 Healthy Choice Steamers I should have and paid EXTRA for a bottle of Tums we didn’t buy but did have the coupon rang through twice. It was kind of like a good disaster LOL So here is everything we got at Walmart:

2 x Lysol Toilet Bowl Cleaner $1.99 (PM Giant Tiger) – $1.00 = $0.99ea (First Mistake should have been $1.00 WUB2)

4 x Healthy Choice Steamers $2.99 (PM SDM) – $2.99 = FREE (Second Mistake should have been BOGO Free)
1 x Tums $3.50 (PM UP) (Third Mistake didn’t actually buy this bottle and cashiers should never price match up)
2 x Tums $2.97 – $3.00 = +$0.06 (Fourth Mistake should have been $3.00 WUB2)
2 x Scrubbing Bubbles Power Trigger $4.99 (PM Metro) – $5.00 = FREE

Next we headed off to Rexall. I was only after one thing here and my expectations at getting them were not high. I had a few of the $10.00 off Multibionta coupons in my binder and they are regular $15.49, on sale for $9.99 this week at Rexall. I’ve heard a lot of controversy over this coupon and that Rexall has been refusing to take it etc. But us and our parents use Multibionta vitamins so I figured it was worth a shot. So I went into Rexall, grabbed 5 – 2 for us, 3 for our parents – off the shelf and headed to checkout. The cashier gave me no issue, she just had to double check that it was ok to take a coupon with a higher value of than the product. And that was that. HUGE savings here!

5 x Multibionta $9.99 – $10.00 = FREE

Total Retail: $77.45
OOP: $0
Taxes: $6.49 🙁

Next it was off to FreshCo. There were a couple specific items I was after (plus a couple I didn’t manage to find at Walmart). It was quick, easy, in and out kind of stop. Picked up a couple unplanned but needed items so it brought our total up a bit but still good! Here is what we got:

3 x Marc Angelo Pork Souvlaki $1.00 – $1.00 = FREE
4 x Dawn Dish Soap $1.00 – $1.00 WUB2 = $0.50ea
2 x Alcan Aluminum Foil $1.00ea
2 x Glad Cling Wrap $1.00ea
2 x Dempster’s Bagels $2.00 – FPC = FREE
1 x Cheese Block $5.99
1 x Grocery Bag (I ran out)

Total Retail: $37.66
OOP:$12.04
Taxes: $1.05 🙁

It was a great day! Even with all the foul ups and unplanned purchases our totals worked out like this:

Total Retail: $306.37
Total OOP: $57.88
Total Savings: $248.49 ~ 81%
