Let me tell you a little story…
A few months ago my hubby and I were struggling with money as I recently returned to college and we also had just moved into our new rental house. My birthday came and went and because things were so tight my hubby was unable to afford a birthday gift for me. I totally understood, I mean everyone has rough times. But then I started couponing to save money! Before we knew it, we were saving money on everything we bought. I then started taking it to the next step and was making large purchases and saving so much money that we started putting it into savings. Little did I know, my hubby had a little savings of his own going. Today he took me out and bought my birthday gift! Everything we needed to make my very own stock pile room!! I couldn’t be happier :D So we have spent today doing a little reno on our basement. Let me show you how it all turned out!

This is what I was using before as my stockpile. Just a little shelf at the top of my basement stairs.

And this is the before of our creepy little basement room. It was NOTHING special, let me tell you! Just a low ceiling, old paneling and a concrete floor. But we did alot of cleaning and got it nice and fresh for these first pictures

This is what it looked like after we put the floor down. It is simple cut-to-fit foam flooring (3 rolls of it). It is soft and durable.

Then we assemled our new shelving units. We purchased 2 units that were both on sale. Because the ceiling in our room is so low, we decided to only use 3 of the 5 shelves in each unit and instead make 4 smaller ones for more space! The wooden and glass shelf was actually left here by the old tenant all we had to do was pick up shelf supports so that one cost us $6!! This is what the empty shelves looked like.

And finally!! My newly renovated stock pile room! It makes me so happy to look around it and know that I didn’t pay more than $3 for any single item in there!!
