Beginner Guide: Canadian Store Coupon & Price Matching Policies

The only way to be certain what is or isn’t allowed when it comes to couponing is to know your store’s coupon policy. Due to the high turnover of cashiers in the retail market many of them are unaware of these policies. In the event of a “coupon in question” you don’t want to be leaving the store without a great deal.

You can never have too much information or knowledge and it is better to be over-prepared then left scrambling. Read over the policy carefully, you want to be certain you are understanding everything. If you are unsure about some wording, speak with a Customer Service Manager for clarification.

When you shop with coupons we suggest ALWAYS carrying a copy of your store policies with you. In the event of a dispute over a coupon, you want to be able to defend your purchase with proof. If you are confident that a coupon you are using is valid, then stand up for yourself. Don’t just accept no as an answer, in the most polite way possible of course. If a cashier refuses a coupon you believe should be accepted, ask to speak with a customer service manager.

This is when having a copy of the coupon policy is very handy. If you have something in writing to defend your point, it is more likely your purchase will be allowed. If the CSM is still not allowing your purchase, ask to speak to a store manager. As a paying customer you have every right to do this and you should not feel as though you are inconveniencing anyone.

In the event you exhaust every level at the store and you are still being refused contact the company head office. If you believe you should not have been refused and were, they can either clarify your mistake or the stores’.

Here you can find the Coupon and /or Price Matching Policies for many of the large retailers in Canada. If you wish to print a copy of a store’s policy for yourself – simply click on the print icon at the bottom of each policy and a PDF version will open for you.

These policies are presented in different formats. Some are official policies from the company, others are answers from a company representative to commonly asked questions and others are courtesy of FAQ sections on store website. We have provided the source of each policy so you can reference it if you ever run into difficulties.

Price Matching Policy

Canadian Tire prides itself in offering our customers quality products at competitive prices and we stand behind our prices with our Price Match Guarantee. We will match any local competitor’s price on an identical item and give you an extra 10% of the lower price in Canadian Tire ‘Money’. This includes competitors’ sale prices.

Bankruptcies, clearance sales, wholesalers and retail websites are excluded. Please note that the competitor’s price must be verifiable and applies only at the time of original purchase.

Canadian Tire has attempted to match online prices to those in store, however online prices, product and service selection and availability, and sale effective dates may differ from those in store and may vary by geographic region. Due to differences in sale effective dates across the country, items may be available online at the sale price before they are available in store. Dealers are under no obligation to make promotional products available, or to match online prices until the sale begins in their region. Market conditions and competitive pressures may cause prices and availability to change without further notice. Canadian Tire Associate Dealers may sell for less.

Coupon Policy

CTC stores are individually owned and operated. Should a coupon be printed from a manufacturer’s website and deemed acceptable to use, it is up to the discretion of the store to accept the coupon. Most coupons are acceptable to use unless they specifically state that copies, facsimiles, modified or altered coupons cannot be used as an original coupon.

1. Do you offer Price / Ad Matching? If so, do you require the actual circulated flyer or will a home-printed version or receipt be accepted?

Co-op does not offer Price / Ad Matching

2. What types of coupons do you accept?

We accept Canadian manufacturer coupons, competitors’ coupons and some internet coupons.

3. What requirements do you have for a coupon to be considered valid?

The coupon must be within the stated expiry date and include the dealer information. Coupons will only be accepted for the item specified.

4. Do you accept competitor coupons?

We do accept competitors’ coupons as long as they fall within the expiry date, are an actual coupon that can be brought to our location and are for a product that Co-op currently carries.

5. Do you accept print-at-home coupons? Will they be accepted in black & white?

We accept internet printable coupons as long as they fall within the expiry date, contain a Canadian clearing house address and are for a product that Co-op sells. We will accept these coupons if they are printed in black and white.

6. Do you allow the use of more than one coupon per item? (manufacturer + internet coupon OR manufacturer/internet + store coupon)

Our customers can use a maximum of one manufacturer coupon and one competitor’s coupon per item purchased.

7. Will you allow overage if the value of the coupon is higher than the price of the product being purchased?

We do not allow overage if the value of the coupon is higher than the price of the product. If the coupon exceeds the value of the product, the customer will receive the product for free, but will not receive any additional money.

8. Is there any type of coupon that you exclude? (ex. BOGO, Free Product)

The only coupons we exclude are coupons for products we do not carry. These coupons are not transferable to a different brand.

Coupon Acceptance Practices

Our coupon acceptance practices are designed to help extend more savings to our customers while ensuring we continue to offer an exceptional customer service experience to everyone in our stores.

Rules for manufacturer issued coupons:

  • present your coupon at the time of purchase
  • ensure all conditions stated on the coupon are met (product to purchase, size, flavour, quantity, etc.)
  • ensure your coupon has a Canadian address
  • ensure your coupon is redeemed prior to the expiration date
  • if printed from the internet, your coupon is legible
  • ensure your coupon is not a photocopy
  • ensure your coupon is not issued by one of our competitors
  • ensure your coupon is not a mail-in rebate
  • Stacking is permitted

Each coupon applied to one item, must have a different UPC

Effective Sept 20, 2013 Procter & Gamble Inc. (P&G) vendor coupons can no longer be stacked, even if they have different UPCs

  • The value of the coupon(s) can slightly exceed the item price at managers discretion

Guidelines for high volume coupon redeemers:

  • More Rewards Card must be scanned at the beginning of the order so cashiers know the actual selling price of each item
  • Please call ahead to ensure we have adequate team members available on our front end at the time you plan to shop so that we can accommodate your needs while providing great service to our other customers.
  • At checkout, please ensure that coupons are placed with each item to speed up the coupon validation and checkout process.
  • If you hope to purchase large quantities of individual items, please provide 2 – 3 days notice to your local store manager so we can properly manage inventory requirements
  • Please note that we reserve the right to limit quantities purchased based on inventory available for all customers.
  • Please note that we will not accept large quantities of multiple coupons during any special promotional days. For more information, please see the store manager.

Store issued coupons:  store coupons are distributed through flyers, email, in-store kiosks, social media and direct mail.

  • Our store system reinforces the conditions of every coupon we receive to ensure that specifications are met (including banner, date, product specifications, limits, combinations, etc).
  • Can be combined with vendor (manufacturer) coupons

We reserve the right to amend the above mentioned practices at any time, in consideration of the best experience for our customers

Price Matching Policy

Our “Cheaper Guaranteed” promise means if a major supermarket competitor within this store’s geographic trade area offers a lower price on any item that we carry in our store, simply show us their price on their flyer/ad (current) or receipt (within 7 days of purchase) and we will sell you that item for 1¢ less. Applies to identical items (same brand, item type (in the case of produce, meat and bakery), size and attributes) or comparable items in the case of private label. Does not apply to prescriptions. Excludes ‘spend x get x’; and ‘free’ promotions and discounts obtained through loyalty programs. We reserve the right to limit quantities. “Our major supermarket competitors”, “geographic trade areas” and “comparable items” are determined solely by us and are based on a number of factors that can change from time to time. We reserve the right to make changes to this program without prior notice.

When can I ask Future Shop to beat a price?
There are three distinct cases where Future Shop will beat a price:
- if you find a lower price at another valid retailer before you make your purchase at Futureshop.ca or in a Future Shop retail store,
- if you find a lower price at another valid retailer within 30 days of making your purchase,
- if Future Shop’s price on an item is reduced within 30 days of your purchase.

Does Future Shop beat the prices of Internet and in-store retailers?
Absolutely, if we don’t already have the lowest price, we’ll beat any price in a retail store or online. The item must be sold by an authorized dealer located in Canada. For online competitor price beats the product must be located in Canada.

How do I show “proof” of price?
Visit us in store or call us at 1-800-663-2275 and tell us which competitor is offering the lower price and where. Our associates will verify the price and the item is in stock and available for immediate sale and delivery. We will beat the competitor’s price by 10% of the difference.

How do I beat a price?
When shopping online:

  • Before purchasing – Give us a call at 1-800-663-2275 and we will help you facilitate your order.
  • After purchasing – Within 30 days of your purchase, give us a call at 1-800-663-2275 and we will help you facilitate your refund.

When shopping in store:

  • Before purchase – Let one of our Product Experts know and they will help you with your price Beat.
  • After purchase – Within 30 days of your purchase, visit our store and one of our Associates will help. Please be sure to bring your invoice with you.

How does your Price Beat policy apply to purchases made using store pickup?
If you purchase an item at futureshop.ca, and if the item is offered at a lower price in the store when you pick it up, you will automatically pay the lower price.

How does your Price Beat policy apply to pre-orders and backorders?
If the price of an item drops at the time of shipment, you will automatically pay the lower price. Your credit card is not charged until the time of the product’s shipment.

How does your Price Beat policy cover an item scheduled for delivery from futureshop.ca?
If the price of an item drops at any time before its scheduled delivery date, we will refund 100% of the difference, including tax. To receive the lower price, you must call 1-800-663-2275. If you see a lower price at futureshop.ca, a retail store, or a competitor, all conditions apply from our standard Price Beat Promise.

What if the competitor does not have the item in stock or has limited quantities of the product?
Sometimes a retailer will advertise a product as having limited quantities in stock. If the item is out of stock or the competitor has advertised as limited quantities of an item, it is not eligible for Price Beating. Likewise, if Future Shop has a product that is advertised as being limited in quantity it will not be eligible for price matching.

Does Future Shop price match “free gift with purchase” offers?
No. Future Shop does not price match “free gift with purchase” orders.

How do Shipping and EHFs impact my price?
Shipping charges and EHFs are included in determining the final price used for a Price Beat. For example, if a competitor’s price was $10 cheaper than ours, but charged $25 for delivery while we charged no fee, the competitor’s price will be higher and therefore not eligible for a Price Beat.

It is the responsibility of the retailers to follow the offer and restrictions printed on the coupons in order to have the coupon redeemed. There are a few key restrictions to be aware of:

  • The amount of the coupon. This is the maximum amount that coupon can be redeemed for
  • Expiry date has not been exceeded
  • Is redeemable in Canada(has a Canadian Clearing House mailing address)
  • The product named on the coupon has been purchased
  • The size and/or flavour of the item, as stated on the coupon, have been purchased
  • The required number of items has been purchased
  • If a coupon states it cannot be used or combined with any other coupon offer, then that coupon cannot be used with other coupons.
  • Only one coupon per purchase. This means only one of this exact type of coupons can be used. (multiple coupons can be used as long as they are all different)
  • Taxes: see question below tax wording

London Drugs staff take pride in providing a superior shopping experience everyday – and it may be necessary to book an appointment for dedicated time to allow for proper processing of each coupon in the transaction. For this reason, it may be smart to contact your chosen store in advance for an appointment. Most coupon stacking education sites expressly recommend working with the store staff to ensure the transaction does not impact lineups.

We have a right as a retailer to limit quantities, especially if we suspect the product is being purchased for resale. We require any customer with the intention of purchasing large amount of products, work with the store to pre-order product in advance. Should we continually be driven to out of stocks, it could jeopardize our ability to continue with coupon stacking.

  1. Will London Drugs price match products and then accept stacks of coupons?
Yes. When purchasing identical products, our price match policy is distinct from the coupon policy.
  2. Does LD allow the total of all the coupons stacked to exceed the value of the product?
No, the coupons total value cannot exceed the value of the product. For example, if the customer presents 3 coupons that are $2.50each ($7.50) and the product is $6.00, the last coupon would be processed through the till as $1.00 (not to exceed $6.00).
  3. When an item is Buy 1, Get 1 free can coupons be used for the purchased item and additional coupons used on the free item?
No. The coupons can only be used on the first item as there must be a purchase in order to use coupons. As an offer already exists to get the second item free, no further coupons are required or can be accepted.
  4. Are there times when a customer coupon stacking privilege can be revoked at London Drugs?
Yes. If we are aware that a customer is buying large quantities of products frequently for re-sale, this should not be allowed. London Drugs is a retailer, not a wholesaler. Coupons are not intended to be used for large scale frequent wholesaling practices. The store manager will revoke coupon staking privileges for anyone buying product frequently for resale.
  5. Internet coupons printed at home are becoming more popular. The coupon sometimes is smudged or illegible, will you still accept them?
No. We must be able to read and follow the eligibility and restrictions set out by the coupon. If we cannot verify the restrictions, or are uncertain of the coupons validity, then it cannot be accepted.
  6. Will you accept a U.S. coupon or coupons in US funds if it was issued in the US?
No. We can only accept valid Canadian based coupons. The only exception would be a US coupon that indicates it is valid in Canada. The coupon must still have a Canadian Clearing House mailing address.

Our coupon policy is in place to help extend savings to our customers.
London Drugs has a responsibility to follow the directions clearly stated on coupons. We pride ourselves on offering a superior shopping experience everyday and we hope to keep our coupon stacking policy as long as it’s not abused.

Due to unfortunate circumstances we are forced to announce a change to our approach of certain coupon stacking programs. This change will affect the pre-ordering of mass quantities of products and the use of mass cut coupons for all of our vendors for the purpose of coupon stacking. In addition, London Drugs has been advised by SC Johnson Company, that no SC Johnson coupon can be combined or stacked with any other coupon, regardless of the wording on the back of their coupons. Unfortunately, both of these areas are impacted due to increasing abuse which cannot be supported, and negatively affects all customers.

Pre-Ordering of Merchandise

Effective immediately, with those products where coupon stacking is permitted, London Drugs stores will only sell shelf quantities of product for the purposes of coupon stacking. As is a longstanding policy, we have always reserved the right to limit quantities and this will be enforced.

We have had increasing pressure from an ever widening number of coupon stackers to pre-order large quantities of products expressly for the purpose of coupon stacking. The requests are not modest: increasingly these order are for cases and half pallet or pallet quantities of merchandise. On top of this, it has been reported that increasingly these large quantities are used for resale, and not for personal consumption.

The manufacturers and London Drugs cannot support this excessive ordering of large quantities, as this is not what coupons were ever intended to provide for customers, and jeopardizes London Drugs ability to get reimbursed for coupons, causing potentially large financial losses for both London Drugs and its suppliers.

SC Johnson Company coupons

London Drugs has been advised by SC Johnson Company, that no SC Johnson coupon can be combined or stacked with any other coupon, regardless of the wording on the back of their coupons. London Drugs attempted to work with the legal counsel representing SC Johnson to alter their wording on their coupons as many other companies have done. Unfortunately, they have made a unilateral decision that because the abuse of coupon stacking has become too widespread on their products, they will not continue to reimburse London Drugs for any coupon they deemed was stacked.

London Drugs is very sorry that these practices have had to change. As one of the very few retailers that have allowed and supported coupon stacking, we’ve worked hard with coupon stacking forums and organizations to make policies clear, and prevent abuse. Despite this approach, the widening abuse has caused these changes in approach. It’s frustrating for London Drugs and the coupon customers who have worked responsibly to maintain the practice to date.

Unfortunately, we do not have a formal coupon and price matching policy that we are able to provide to you; however, we do have some prepared Q&As that may assist you further.

1. What kinds of coupons do you accept?

o Longo’s accepts any Canadian Manufacturers coupons with a valid expiry date

2. Do you offer store coupons? Where may I find them?

o Yes,Longo Store Coupons – In store or emailed directly to the consumer

3. May I use a store coupon and a manufacturer coupon on one item?

o Yes we will honour both coupons, if applicable

4. Do you exclude any coupons? Ex: above $5 off, BOGO offers, coupons for free product.

o No we do not exclude any coupons but obviously only honour valid coupons.

5. Do you accept Internet Printable Coupons? May I print them in black and white?

o Yes, we accept printable coupons only if it is a Canadian

6. Do you match competitor prices or take competitor coupons?

o We do not price match, nor accept competitor coupons.

7. What is your policy on overage: when the value of the coupon exceeds the value of the product?

o See below

8. If the coupon exceeds the item’s value do you adjust the price of the coupon down? Ex: $1.00 off coupon on $0.97 cent product.

o Yes, the coupon will be adjusted to the amount that the item was charged for. The cashier will then note this on the coupon.

9. Do you limit the number of coupons I may use per transaction?

o We can accept one coupon per variety of item. (Example: Customer buys 2 x Kraft Peanut Butter and has 2 x $0.50 coupons for the same item. If the coupon states “One coupon per purchase” then only one coupon can be accepted)

10. Do you employees understand “one coupon per purchase=one coupon per item”, not “one coupon per transaction”?

11. Does your store ever double or triple coupons?

o Not at this time

o If the coupon states “One coupon per purchase” then only one coupon can be accepted

13. Are individual stores allowed to impose their own rules or vary from this policy?

o No. It is the responsibility of the cashier to read the terms of the coupon and apply it accordingly.

Price Protection Plus

What is Price Protection Plus?

With any purchase of Appliances, Sewing Machines, Vacuum Cleaners, Home Furnishings, Mattresses and Electronics* that is made with your Sears Financial Credit Card, we will match a Canadian retailer’s advertised price and beat the difference by 10% for 90 days. Purchases made with any other tender are covered for 30 days.

How does Price Protection Plus work?

Option 1: Come in.

  • Bring in a copy of a Canadian retailer’s advertisement with an identical item advertised for less to one of our sales associates in store. Once they verify the details, we’ll match their price, then beat the difference by 10%.
  • If you have already purchased the item at Sears, bring in a copy of a Canadian retailer’s advertisement with an identical item advertised for less and your original Sears receipt to one of our sales associates in store. Once they verify the details, we’ll refund the difference plus give you an extra 10% of the difference.

Option 2: Call in.

  • Call 1-800-26SEARS with the url and page of a Canadian retailer’s website where the exact same item is found. Once the Customer Support associate verifies the details, we’ll match their price and beat the difference by 10%.

LEGAL DISCLAIMER:

*Price Protection Plus on Electronics is valid up to 30 days only on all tender types.
For Appliances including sewing machines and vacuum cleaners, and Home Furnishings including furniture (e.g. bedroom, living room, kitchen, dining, home office, ready to assemble), upholstery, recliners, and rugs. The Price Protection Plus must be used on identical product (same manufacturer’s product code, model, SKU number). The item must be in stock and available at the advertised price.
For Mattresses the Price Protection Plus can be used on comparable national brand and SEARS-O-PEDIC sleep sets. The item must be in stock and available at the advertised price.
Price Protection Plus only applies to current and new merchandise (refurbished merchandise is not applicable).
If a competitor is advertising a percentage discount (e.g. 10% off appliances) Sears will match the dollars, not the percentage.
Price Protection Plus applies to the purchase price of the merchandise only, and does not apply to add-on related services such as delivery, installation, maintenance agreements, special credit or financing terms.
Price Protection Plus can be used in conjunction with a legitimate written quote from a Canadian competitor (e.g.: product quote sheet or actual sales receipt).
For C.O.D. orders (where accepted), cash will be refunded or a cheque will be mailed to your home address; for account purchases the refund will be handled by a credit to the account used (credit may appear on the next statement that follows the statement showing the item purchase).
Price Protection Plus can not be combined with any other promotional offer.
Price Protection Plus does not apply to clearance products, advertising errors, factory closeouts, store opening specials, time specials or limited quantity offers (e.g. Boxing Day, Black Friday), builder rebates, auction website prices, licensed departments, club retailers, co-op or wholesale purchases, United States or Internet-only retailers, bundle promotional offers, and credit/financing terms.
This program may be amended or discontinued at any time without notice.

Price Matching Policy

We strive at all times to provide our customers with quality products at competitive prices. Pricing is continuously reviewed by our analysts and is changed to reflect the competitive market, as well as the item cost to Sobeys by the vendor. Products advertised in the weekly flyers are offered at a discount price as an invitation to customers to shop in our stores. Sobeys does not offer price matching.

Scanning Code of Practice Policy

If the scanned price of a non-ticketed item is higher than the shelf price or any other displayed price, the customer is entitled to receive the first item free, up to a maximum $10 value. Any additional “same” items would be rung in at the correct signed price.

Coupons

Valid on phone, fax and online orders at www.staples.ca. Not valid in retail stores. Limit one per customer, nontransferable. Minimum purchase requirement must be met with purchases to which no other coupon applies. May not be combined with any other coupon. No cash/credit back. Not valid on downloadable software, services, business service provider or custom-printing service provider Web sites, gift cards or prior purchases. Unless otherwise stated coupons are not valid on any computer, tablet, laptop or eReader purchase. Taxes and shipping not included in calculating minimum purchase.

Price Match

WE WILL NOT BE UNDERSOLD!

If you find a lower advertised price on an in-stock new identical item from an Authorized Canadian dealer, now or within 14 days of your purchase, just show us the price and we will match it!

If our competitor has a bonus offer with an item that we carry, we will match the competitor’s price and provide the identical bonus item where possible. If our competitor offers a free Gift Card with an item that we carry, we will match the competitor’s price and provide the same valued Gift Card. We do not match tender, such as gift card discounts, with our competitors.

For internet and delivered purchases, the competitor must have the item in stock on their website and next day shipping and handling fees will be added to the competitor’s price to make a fair comparison against our price. If no shipping and handling charges are readily available in the advertisement, a flat fee of $15 will be added to the competitor’s price. There are some towns in Canada where additional shipping charges apply. Our Store Managers and Call Centres can help you determine these costs.

An identical item is a product with the same manufacturer and model number. An Authorized Canadian dealer is a retailer that the Canadian manufacturer willingly sells to (typically, unauthorized dealers do not offer legal Canadian warranties and/or packaging). The price match guarantee does not apply to refurbished items or demos.

An advertisement is defined as a copy of a current Canadian: dated advertisement, original register receipt, catalogue page or competitor web page.

From time to time, our catalogue, internet and store prices might temporarily not match due to printing press deadlines. If this happens, you will get the lowest price of the three.

We reserve the right to limit quantities sold to an individual customer. The price match guarantee does not apply to competitor’s or Staples advertising that states “limited quantities”, “clearance”, “close-outs”, “bankruptcies” or special events (e.g. Boxing Day). We do not match typographical errors in competitor’s advertisements. OEM, Government and Educational prices may be excluded. Prices do not include applicable taxes and/or eco fees. We reserve the right to modify the terms of our price match guarantee from time to time.

Ink Guarantee

Staples has your ink or toner cartridge, guaranteed! If we’re ever out of the inkjet or toner cartridge you need†, we will give you $10 off your next purchase of that cartridge. Plus if we carry a compatible or remanufactured version of the cartridge, we’ll give you $5 instant savings off that item.

For more details, please call us at 1-800-668-6888.

†This guarantee applies to regular stocked selection as indicated in the catalogue or online. Not valid on extended delivery items. Offer limited to one per customer per month, nontransferable. No cash/credit back. Staples reserves the right to discontinue this program at any time without notice.

Target Canada Coupon Policy

Coupons are a great way to save even more when shopping with us, and it’s easy to use them at our stores. When accepting coupons, we follow the guidelines below. These guidelines apply to all coupons accepted at Target (checkout coupons, internet coupons, mailed coupons, coupons from newspapers and magazines, etc.).

  • Coupons must be presented at checkout and before your transaction is completed.

Manufacturer and Target Coupons:

  • Target accepts one manufacturer coupon and one Target coupon for the same item (unless prohibited by either coupon).
  • Limit of four identical coupons per household, per day, unless otherwise noted on the coupon.
  • Item purchased must match the coupon description (brand, size, quantity, colour, flavour, etc.).
  • Coupon amount may be reduced if it exceeds the value of the item after other discounts or coupons are applied.
  • We can’t give cash back if the face value of a coupon is greater than the purchase value of the item.
  • All applicable sales taxes are paid by the guest at the full value of the item.

  • We do not accept internet coupons for free items with no purchase requirements.

Buy One Get One Free (BOGO) Coupons:

  • BOGO coupons cannot be combined (i.e. you cannot use two BOGO coupons on two items and get both for free). Unless stated otherwise on the coupon, the use of one BOGO coupon requires that two valid items be presented at checkout. The full retail price of one item will be charged to the guest and the second item will be discounted by its full retail price.
  • A second cents-off coupon of the same type cannot be redeemed toward the purchase price of the first item.
  • If any Target BOGO coupon is used, one additional manufacturer coupon may be used on the first item.

  • We reserve the right to accept, refuse, or limit the use of any coupon.

What qualifies as proof of a price?

Please show us the entire printed advertisement. Photos, photocopies, or mobile phone versions of the ad cannot be accepted as verification of a competitor’s printed ad.

Can I use a coupon when price matching?

A guest can use coupons when price matching per Target’s normal coupon policy. When the guest presents a coupon(s), these steps will be followed:

  • Manufacturer coupons: Manufacturer coupons: manufacturer coupons will be applied after the price match is made.
  • Target coupons: Target coupons will be applied before the price match is made. If the competitor price is still lower than the price after the Target coupon has been deducted, the ad match can be adjusted to match the competitor’s

Once the price match is made the manufacturer coupon will be applied.
  • Reminder: we accept one manufacturer coupon and one Target coupon for the same item unless either coupon prohibits it. Target does not ad match a competitor’s coupon-required offers.

Not applicable to clearance sales, combination promotions (eg. gift with purchase), double or triple coupons, after-sale rebate offers, preferred customer discounts or random discounts (eg. scratch and save events) offered by other retailers, or to competitor misprints, or withdrawn or corrected advertisements. In such cases, we’ll issue you a rain check (at your request) so you may buy the item at the advertised price when it becomes available. Or, if you prefer, we’ll sell you a similar item at a comparable price. Rain checks are not available for Clearance or Limited Quantity items, which are available only while supplies last. We reserve the right to limit quantities to normal retail purchases. All items may not be available in all stores. Items may be available by special order in certain locations. Does anyone know if you can use a manufacturer coupon AND a store coupon at Zellers?

This is what I want to do…

I have the $10 websaver coupon for the Thomas the Train set. I want to use that plus the new coupon from zellers Facebook that is $10 off when you spend $40.

Does anyone know if I can do this???

    • savealoonie

I would say no since it does not state in their policy that this is allowed. However, it is always a good idea to call your store’s customer service for clarification.

    Hi,
Since it says Walmart accepts competitors’ coupons, does it mean I can use metro’s coupons at walmart? Has anyone tried doing that before?
    Thanks

    • Louise

Walmart treats competitor’s coupons as an ad match. So instead of inputting it as a vendor coupon (and showing as such on your receipt), the cashier will check what the item is selling for, then he/she will use their override code for a price match and change the price of the product (so your receipt will show that price) – so if the product is selling for $4.97, and the competitor’s coupon for the product is for $1 off, our receipt will show the price of the product as $3.97.
