Saving Tip # 7: Save On Textbooks

Saturday, March 17th, 2012 at 4:11 pm

This is a saving tip just in time for back to school. This tip is for anyone in college or university or with a child going.

We all know text books can be VERY expensive but it is unfortunately the price we must pay for our education. There is a way to make the blow a little less even without coupons! When looking to purchase your textbooks, instead of waiting in line at your Bookstore take a few minutes and look on Chapters/Indigo’s website. Not all books will be available there but it is unbelievable the vast selection of texts they do have available.

For this upcoming semester, I was able to purchase 3 of my 5 books from their website. When comparing prices between Chapters and my college’s bookstore, I am saving between $20 and $30 per book! And on top of that if you are a Chapter’s member than you save an additional 5%. As an even bigger savings shop through Ebates for up to another 5% off! And if you spend more than $25 (and when purchasing textbooks you WILL) the shipping is FREE!

By doing this you can save tons of money and avoid the hassles of a crowded bookstore and waiting in line for an hour or more, holding what feels like 50 pounds of textbooks. LOL

Happy Shopping everyone and we wish all the students out there the best of luck in the coming school year! :)

I bought most of mine through Amazon over the last 3.5 years…they are even cheaper than Chapters / Indigo which is a shame since I would rather support a Canadian business but the savings were at least 50%, sometimes over $75 per book! Abebooks is also a great resource.

Kijiji and locazu are also a good place to get them cheap. I got one of my textbooks for $40 brand new!! It was in the bookstore for $150 ish
