A rose by any other name would smell as sweet..

That’s the philosophy Loblaws Companies is taking with their new “Naturally Imperfect” Discount Produce Line – and I personally LOVE IT!

While not all fruits & veggies grown by Mother Nature are as pretty as the produce you are used to seeing in grocery stores, that doesn’t make the taste of the product any lesser. Anyone who’s had a backyard garden or planter knows that!

In the past, undersized, scarred or poorly colored products would be used in soups, sauces, juices etc or not harvested at all resulting in tons of waste. This new product line is a win-win for everyone!

The “Naturally Imperfect” products are sold for up to 30% less than the cost of other fruits & veggies improving accessibility to fresh foods and lowering grocery bills for the consumer.

It also helps reduce unnecessary waste & increase the return that producers are seeing on their product.

According to CTV News, you can already find “Naturally Imperfect” apples & potatoes in some No Frills, RCSS & Maxi stores in Ontario & Quebec. Loblaws plans to have the brand available nation-wide by the end of the year & expand the assortment of items available.

What are your thoughts on the Naturally Imperfect product line? Would you consider purchasing less-than-perfect produce to save money? Share with us on the SaveaLoonie Facebook Page!
