Wonder Bread. It’s a staple in our house and has been ever since I was a kid.

Believe it or not, bread is useful for far more than making sandwiches. Sure, sandwiches rock, but your bread is more versatile than you may think!

Here are 30 things you can do with Wonder Bread:

1. Make toast
2. The Classic – Peanut Butter & Jam / Jelly Sandwich (sub in your favourite jam or jelly)
3. French Toast – cinnamon, butter & real maple syrup.. mmmm.. excuse me while I drool a little 😉
4. Grilled Cheese Sandwich – Bonus points for adding in extras such as onions, pickles, bacon, ham etc. For another quick & easy twist on a Grilled Cheese, make it on a George Forman Grill. It’s like a homemade Grilled Cheese Panini
5. Replacement hot dog or hamburger bun – Admit it, we’ve all done this!
6. Egg in the Basket
7. Garlic Toast
8. Stuffing / Dressing – Save end pieces or stale slices in a bag in the freezer over the months. By the next holiday you will have enough to do your bird.
9. Make your own croutons.
10. Make your own breadcrumbs.
11. Make bread pudding – I’ve never actually had this but it doesn’t look half bad. Thoughts?
12. Add into meat balls or meatloaf
13. Keep cookies fresh – Add a slice or 2 into home made cookies that are starting to go stale. They will be back to their chewy self in no time!
14. Soften brown sugar – Add a slice of bread into sealed container of harden brown sugar. Let sit a few days and your sugar will soften up.
15. Refresh hard marshmallows – Place a slice of fresh Wonder Bread into a sealed bag and let sit for a couple of days to revive your marshmallows.
16. Soak up grease – Place bread slices in a drip pan when grilling meat. It will soak up the grease and reduce the amount of smoke produced.
17. Absorb odors while cooking veggies – Place a slice of white bread over a pot of cooking vegetables. It will absorb any unpleasant odors from veggies like broccoli or cabbage.
18. Cut onions without crying – Put a slice of bread in your mouth while cutting an onion. Another suggestion, place a cube of bread on the knife you are using to cut the onion. Both will help absorb the sulfides that cause your eyes to well up.
19. Keep cake fresh – Attach a fresh slice of bread to the cut edge of a cake with toothpicks to keep it soft and moist.
20. Remove burnt flavour from rice – Over cook your rice? No problem! Place a slice of bread on top of the rice and cover with lid. Wait several minutes and the bread should absorb the burnt taste.
21. Feed the birds.
22. Use as fish food.
23. Clean walls / wallpaper –  Rub crust-less white bread on painted walls or wallpaper to remove greasy or dirty smudges & fingerprints
24. Dust oil paintings – Remove dirt, dust & grim from oil paintings by gently rubbing the area with soft bread.
25. Clean up suede – Remove smudges from suedes shoes, purses etc by rubbing the area with a slice of bread.
26. Spoon rest – Use the end piece of the loaf as a spoon rest while cooking. It will absorb any grease or sauces then just dispose of it.
27. Sponge painting – Use cookie cutters to make bread shapes to use for sponge painting.
28. Pick up glass shards – Clean up tiny shards & slivers of glass by pressing a slice of bread over the area the glass is. Pick it up careful and throw away.
29. Remove splinters – Soak bread in milk then affix over splinter with tape or bandage. Let dry overnight. The bread should pull the splinter out as it dries.
30. Treat calluses & corns – Let a half stale slice of bread soak in apple cider vinegar then tape it to the affected area of your foot. Slip a sock over top and let soak overnight.
