Hi there and Welcome to SaveaLoonie.com! Our names are Ryan and Terra and we run SaveaLoonie. We are a couple living in Ontario, Canada with our dogs, Jack and Ella. We just want to tell you a little about ourselves and our website.
SaveaLoonie.com was launched on May 18, 2011. We created this site to help our friends, family and fellow Canadians to learn to coupon and reduce your monthly expenses. We started couponing out of necessity. With Terra being a full time student and Ryan working with a variable income, we found our finances quickly became too much to handle. We had seen TLC’s Extreme Couponing and decided that couponing was worth a shot to try and reduce some of our expenses. We quickly found that with some time and dedication grocery bills were dropping by 50% or more! Others started to notice the success we were having with coupons and were constantly asking where we get our coupons and how to use them. After trying to explain to a handful of them all the different resources we use to collect coupons, we came up with the idea of creating a website where we could put them all together. That’s how SaveaLoonie.com was born.
Now a little about us!
Terra
I am a recent graduate of the Advanced Registered Massage Therapy program. I will soon be registered with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario and opening up my own practice. I have been couponing since late 2010 and I love every minute of it. When I’m not couponing or blogging about coupons, I enjoy spending time with Ryan and our dogs walking, fishing, visiting family, spending time with friends and cooking or baking.
Ryan
I am a self employed web designer and have been working on the internet for over 10 years. I have created and maintain several websites on a daily basis as well as SaveaLoonie.com. I wasn’t sure about this couponing thing at first but quickly realized how much money could really be saved. I have never actually used a coupon by myself but am with Terra on every shopping trip. I enjoy horsing around with our dogs , playing video games and hockey.
Jack
Jack is our 5 year old Jack Russell Terrier. He is always excited to see what new goodies (especially dog treats!) that we bring home when we shop. He has got his head in every bag before they are even through the door! Jack is super energetic and loves playing ball, barking at squirrels and posing for pictures.
Ella
Ella is an energetic Pug puppy. She is new to the couponing world but is catching on fast! She loves helping to sort coupons – even if they do sometime get a little soggy. Ella loves getting dressed up, playing ball and chasing Jack’s tail.

Just a note, your site can’t be updated daily, you should remove or note when freebies are expired. You have so many expired freebies, it is not worth even visiting them.

I would like to start off saying… THANK YOU for the time and effort in helping Canadians with their search to save money. I just started a few months ago when I came across your site by accident. To date I now have over 300 active coupons in my binder and have been saving my family $300 – $450 a month. I have been purchasing items only in which I need or have used in the past – some in amounts that can be somewhat extreme. I am not what you call a “Shelf Clearer” or am greedy with my coupons. I give to those who really need them such as school, daycare, cadets etc. My biggest rant is that the province/City (Manitoba, Winnipeg) I live in is pretty much extinct for tear pad coupons (lucky to see 2-3 tear pads a month between 5 stores I shop at). So I depend on printable, mail, weclip.ca and on product coupons. I have tried trades online a couple times but got ripped off – I sent mine but never received the trade.
What I am hoping for is that one day you add more to your site such as a place where people in each province can turn to and find weekly meeting sites for face to face type trades.
